Frequently Asked Question

Windows Volume Accessibility
Last Updated about a month ago

The newest of iFi's products utilizing the 16 bit XMOS chip (ex. Zen DAC Signature, Zen DAC V2, and newer) do not currently accept Windows' digital volume controls. The analog volume knob on the device is the only way to control the volume. Windows will display volume levels however, you will not hear them as the XMOS chip does not process digital volume controls from the audio source.

Previous devices currently support volume controls. This is achieved by ensuring the Windows audio settings have Exclusive mode engaged and Force volume disengaged. These settings allow your Application (Tidal, Qobuz, etc.) audio output settings to take full control of your device.

We recommend setting digital volume to 100% and using the analogue controls on your DAC as it allows full bit rate transfer and optimal audio quality.
