Frequently Asked Questions

Is the signal going through the DAC chip or a low pass filter?
Question: I'm playing DSD through the iDSD micro, is the signal going through the DAC chip, or through a separate low pass filter for translation to analogue?

Answer: For both DSD and PCM the signal is decoded in the DAC chip and then passes through an analogue lowpass filter. For PCM the decoding in the DAC is done with a 6 Bit multibit system for the top 6 bits and a single bit DAC for the lower bits. For DSD the decoding in the DAC is an 8-Tap analogue FIR lowpass filter.
